Hello and welcome to our latest update
- I just wanted to cover a bit about the company and give you an overview of where we are and where we are going.
To begin with… R3d Pixel was formed just over three years ago focusing on game based learning and casual games. The founders originally come from a professional educational & academic background and then moving into mobile games and apps. During this time they created their own IP and successfully monetised this, they also worked with several IP/brand holders who hired the studio for digital projects on both smartphones & tablets.
Moving on to 2013 – The studio ramped up its team with several key experienced hires who have worked in the traditional videogame sphere on both AAA to casual & social titles for global companies. Using this perfectly balanced team we’re currently creating two brand new titles and working with two UK based ‘brands’ who both have a global presence. At this point it’s too early to discuss any of these projects, though we will proudly unveil these as and when we can.
We still have the capacity to handle more projects as we not only have our main studio in Amsterdam, we also have studios in both the US & the UK.
About us and our disruptive vision!
Unlike traditional commercial ‘videogame’ companies, we aim to leverage our game development skills & knowledge to create absorbing and engaging experiences that deliver either a social message, educate and entertain (and in some cases, all three). We feel that no other company has truly delivered such an experience.
We are embellishing all experiences via gamification to create three types of core businesses within our studios, and these are:
Serious Games and games for change
We’re researching and looking at projects covering arts, sports to social issues both locally in the UK/Europe and globally. These could be encouraging people to exercise, look at money management, sex education, drug awareness, alcohol & domestic abuse to more global issues such as raising awareness of sweatshops/sweat factories, human trafficking, global warming, poverty to highlighting racism or gender issues. We currently have two projects in development in some of these areas.
Each of these titles will cover many moral choices, dilemmas and scenarios making the user engage -> think -> learn and make the correct choices in their lives or within the company they work for. Anything we touch will be done in such a way that the user will have so much fun whilst learning about serious issues in life.
We are currently working on two of our own educational game titles. Whilst we can’t yet reveal anything about our newest internal games, we can say that we are working on projects for clients, brands and IP holders, including:
- Educational Games that deliver strong relevant content whilst the user has fun, even adults love to play games (though most won’t admit it) – it’s in our nature. Our Game Based Learning titles will have some of the best game mechanics & hooks to keep you entertained whilst learning through true reinforcement. We are dedicating our efforts to late teens and adult learning, though we do have the capacity & experience to create experiences for younger audiences.
- Casual & Social Games. We’re not just about learning and delivering strong messages! Our team has previously worked on some of the most popular casual games delivered both digitally and for offline too via consoles and PC/Macs, some of which were award winning! Our strong background can help any client, company or brand wanting to strengthen their reach in the digital space. So we can put our feet up and have some bite-sized fun aimed at everyone.
As a company both strong morals and ethics are our mantra and our aim is to make “serious games for casual people” globally. We have the harmonised team to deliver engaging messages and education, as there are not many companies that have the game-design, education and social messaging experience that we have!
Further blog posts will include case studied, post mortems & in-depth coverage of all our projects from both a technical studio stand-point and the commercial reality.
That’s it for now. Please consider following us on Twitter(@r3dpixel)
Until the next time,
